Boogie to BOYNE!

Welcome to our fantastic state of Michigan !! What a journey you will encounter as you enter The Great Lake State of Michigan, heading to Boyne Mt. located at Boyne Falls , in the northwest corner of the Lower Peninsula . Once in Michigan take 131 straight north, or traveling from the west, board a ferry at Manitowoc to Ludington, or coming across the Upper Peninsula to cross the “Mighty Mac' and take 131 south to an area of scenic country, quaint shopping districts, sandy beaches, calm blue waters, stunning sunsets, and the meeting of lots Women On Wheels®.

At Boyne Mt. resort you will find activities to suite everyone for every interest. You will find a Solace Spa offering a full menu of services guaranteeing relaxation and rejuvenation. Spa goers can indulge in whirlpool tubs, steam showers, cedar saunas, tranquil sitting areas, an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, and top of the line fitness center. The fun continues at Avalanche Bay- Michigan largest indoor water park. One can try the floating icebergs of Haute Route and shooting hoops at Blizzard Bay , or soak in the Glacier Hot Springs or join for a double-tube plunge down the Super-G slide or Vertigo cannon bowl. The featured attraction of this area is Splasherhorn Mountain , a three-story interactive tower that announces the arrival of an avalanche every 15 minutes with a deep rumble and 800 gallon's of water – watch out below!! Women On Wheels® will have a reduced rate of only $20.00 per day for what fun and adventure at Avalanche Bay .

In addition to all the activities that is available on the resort, this year get ready for a very unique “Meet & Greet” activity with a “GRAND” door prize Tuesday evening. Along with having the opportunity of riding the ski lift to the Eagle's Nest where one can enjoy some music of Michele and beverages. (Shuttle will be available for those not wanting to ride the ski lift). Wednesday afternoon; we will leave the resort at 4 PM with a police escorted ride through the beautiful back roads of Boyne Mt. to the neighboring city of East Jordan . There we will enjoy an ice cream social complete with cherry pie and hosted by the Chamber of Commerce with support from Friske Orchards, East Jordan Iron Works, and other chamber members. This ride also offers you a free unique pin to add to your collection and other fun items. You could also check out the local merchants for more entertainment and bargains. Again, the return ride will be police escorted back to the resort; otherwise there will be a guided longer version back to Boyne .

We will have many unique vendors and seminars located right on Boyne Mt. convention center along with their small shops there. Be sure to sign up for “Slow Curves” class. Gary Lewandoski, HD's Rider's Edge Professional, will instruct. This is limited to 8 ladies per class session. You will be impressed what one can do with a large motorcycle when taught properly. You can even watch if you don't want to participate. For our wonderful support members, please be sure to check out and sign up for some charter fishing or a round of golf.

Michigan is divided into two peninsulas; the upper and the lower, be sure that you schedule time to take a guided ride or get a group together to bike to the Mackinaw Bridge . There is a fee for crossing the bridge, which you will have to pay each way. The Mackinaw Bridge is a two-lane highway that consists of the left lane being grates while the right lane is concrete. A word of caution; usually in the summertime, the road commission is working on the bridge and the right lane is often times closed. No matter if one crosses the bridge or not, just the view is enough to earn the Mac patch which will be available for $3.00 each.

Camping is available at Young State Park 1.800 44 PARKS or 231.582.7523 or at East Jordan Tourist Park . For reservation at Boyne Mt. call 1.800.GO.BOYNE 462.6963.

As members of the Board of Trustees of Women On Wheels®, Anne and I extend a sincere and personal invitation to join us at this exciting upcoming event at Boyne Mt. located at Boyne Falls , Michigan . Please check www.womenonwheels.org or www.goboyne.com for more information.
